Maison Martin Margiela brings avant-garde fashion to H&M on November 15. I loved the use of metallic in this collection, and I really wanted to highlight that with the silver pant. I paired it with an easy white blouse, and a black coat. The shoes are from H&M, but not from the collection. I added pops of pink into the outfit with the candy clutch and pink lip, as well as the pink accents. The woman shown in the pictures is Lana Del Rey, who is a singer and model for H&M. Overall, I wanted this outfit to focus on the metallic pant with the pink accents.
The day look of my outfit is kind of a twist on the iconic School Girl look from the "Baby One More Time" music video. I updated the simple uniform into a girly blue and yellow skirt with a white cropped top and gray snakeskin blazer, which doubles as a tribute to her Slave 4 U snake. I also added in pops of color with the mary jane in the same color as Fantasy and a green shoulder bag in the same color as the logo. The hair is in an easy fishtail braid, which will turn into the gorgeous waves for the night time look. Also featured in the night look is a flapper-esque navy dress. The roaring twenties are making their way back, especially with their feminine but not girly silhouettes. The gold shoe is a nice touch, not only because it matches the dress, but it also goes well with the Femme Fatale album, which is about "fatal woman" or a powerful woman. Nothing screams power quite like gold! Also similar between the two outfits is the pair of rose stud earrings. The gold clutch is another pop of gold that is both useful and beautiful. The backdrop for this set is made mainly of Britney Spears sheet music from Criminal, Toxic, and I Wanna Go. On the left is a vintage type bookshelf, showing that the first outfit is great for a student. The red lipstick (at the bottom) is great for day or night, and is a great transition piece. This set showed a transition from day to night, as well as a tribute to Britney Spears and her great music.
